Our turn!

It has been my privilege to have Pastor Rick Reynolds and his wife Patty visiting us these last two weeks. Pastor Rick taught another successful session of the Men's seminary class, but us women also got some excellent teaching as Patty taught the Ciumeghiu women on Effective Parenting. We had an all time record attendance of 13 women and everyone walked away with some new ideas. Pray that these women will view parenting as a way to lead their children to Christ and that they will understand the God can use even an uneducated mother to teach His ways of Life. Patty and I also held a special women's class in Tinca the following Wednesday. About 20 women attended and we taught "How to Wait for the Lord's return." The women were thrilled to have a class especially for them after seeing how their men have benefited from the seminary classes. Pray that each woman will continue growing spiritually and actively wait for the Lord's return. May the Lord be praised by His daughters' service and living as well.

ALMOST done!

Spring has sprung in Romania. The trees are in bloom, people are out planting gardens and we all are enjoying the sunny weather. This week was my lull before the storm as we prepare for another week of Men's Seminary class, March 14-17 and as we prepare for baptisms & Easter. (Romania celebrates Easter on April 28th this year.)
Today I want to show you a picture of the Ciumeghiu Classroom construction. We are so close to finishing that we can taste it, but sadly we have taken a break from construction due to lack of finances. Many factors including the devaluation of the dollar, cost of manual labor, and higher cost of materials have contributed to this fact of life. We are now all praying for the Lord to provide to help us finish this faith project. We estimate that total finishing costs will be around $5000. A gift of $500 would pour the concrete floor and make the room usable during the summer time. Please pray with us that the Lord will not only finish His building, but also strengthen our faith through this downtime. We praise the Lord that He is working mightily in the Ciumeghiu church and look forward to another baptism on April 20th. Thank you for your prayers for ALL the work the Lord is doing in Ciumeghiu. May we be able to say like Paul that in whatever state we are in, we have learned to be content. Kim

We never stop learning!

Thank you for your prayers for the Men's seminary class held March 3-6. It was a wonderful time of fellowship for the 18 men who attended over the course of the week as well as for our teachers and translators. This session was specifically on "Training up a child in the Lord" and the Rom men were thrilled. Many asked if they could bring their wives. :) It has been exciting to see the attendance grow for these classes and see leaders from 7 churches in 6 different villages grow in wisdom and strength. By God's grace (and provision), we hope to have another session in April.
Continue to pray for the Ciumeghiu church as the Lord continues His miraculous work there. Pastor Nastase is already planning a second baptism for April 20 for 7 people who want to take this first step of obedience in their walk with Christ. The Ladies are continuing to attend class and ask good questions showing a desire to learn. May the Lord strengthen us leaders to only speak what He wants and only do what is His will.

Showers of Blessing!

February has been filled with many difficulties, but the Lord has been blessing His people through it all. The Ciumeghiu church has seen great spiritual growth in the last two months. Last Sunday, 5 people were baptized and welcomed into the church and 1 woman accepted Christ as her personal Savior. The couple in the front left of the picture were saved two years ago at Evangelistic meetings and finally are taking this first step of obedience in their walk with God. They have come through many struggles and we were all crying with joy to see them obey their Lord and be baptized. There are too many blessings to comment on, but I do want to list some below so you can praise the Lord with us.
*Praises:
1) 60 children attending Ciumeghiu kids class and 10 women attending Ladies class.
2) 10 people baptized in 3 churches: Sanicoleau Romani, Telechiu, & Ciumeghiu in the last month
3) My coworker Tim Fink ordained 1 deacon in his church in Osherhei.
4) I received another one year residence visa.
5) My coworker Sandy and I had a relaxing trip to London for a BMM European Missionary Conference. It was a wonderful time to meet others and encourage each other in the struggle to "gain ground" in the battle for our Lord.
6) Ciumeghiu classroom construction is progressing well! Electricity has been installed so the men finished plastering the walls this week. The false ceiling/attic area will now be built and if good weather persists the concrete will be poured for the floor. The mayor has even promised to give us $400 to help with the building! A true miracle when there isn't even a road to the church. :) Thank you for your prayers and consistent giving towards this project.
*Prayer Requests:
1) March 1,2 - Evangelistic meetings in Ciumeghiu
2) March 3-6 - Men's seminary class in Tinca (American pastors are coming to teach this course)
3) March 6-9 - Evangelistic meetings in Tinca
4) Spiritual growth of new believers and the recently baptized.
5) Wisdom as I continue to train and disciple in Ciumeghiu. I am praying about what to teach in both the children's and Ladies' classes when we finish our current series in May.
Thank you all for your love, prayers and support. I wish you all could come and SEE with your eyes how the Lord is working. All praise to His name! Kim

All Praise to Him Above

January has been a month of "mind over matter." The weather turned warmer which means that everything turns to mud and kids want to stay outside and not come to class. January is also the month I run around renewing my residence visa, car insurance and other car documents. It always takes a zillion phone calls, days of waiting in line and patience that only God can give. And then there is the every lingering cold or flu that wants to make you "good for nothing." Despite the January bumps, God is continuing to work. My biggest praise is that Madalina, the girl on the left, received Christ as her Savior this last Saturday. Praise the Lord! She comes from a very rough family, but has a sweet spirit. Pray that she will grow to know the Lord and how to walk with Him. We also praise the Lord for $1500 that has come in for the Ciumeghiu construction project. We have purchased windows and doors and soon hope to have the electricity installed. In Ciumeghiu, in the last few weeks, we have also seen new visitors as well as backslidden Christians coming to church. What a blessing to see God answering our prayers to reach our neighbors and community for His name. Thank you for all your prayers and gifts for the work in Ciumeghiu. May the Lord continue to glorify His name through us. Kim

Happy New Year!

This picture to the left is the Casa Popurului or Palatul Parlimentului (People's House or Parliment's Palace) in Bucharest. After New Year's, I was able to take a week off and go visit my girlfriend Alina who moved to the Bucharest area this last summer. As you can see, Bucharest is dealing with a LOT of snow (unlike us here in Oradea) but it was beautiful despite the hassle. I had a wonderful time relaxing with Alina & her family as well as taking in a few important sites. (see picture below :) The 11 hour train ride also let me get some reading/studying/preparation done for the upcoming New Year. I am rejuvenated and ready to tackle the goals the Lord has put on my heart for His ministries this year. Thank you for your continued prayers as I tackle the Romani/Gypsy language and as I work with potential leaders for my classes. May we each remember that God makes us ABLE to do the work He has called us to, to HIS honor and glory. Kim

A Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to All!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day celebrating the birth of out Saviour Jesus Christ. Here is a picture of the Ciumeghiu Children's Christmas Program, that took place on Sunday, December 23rd. All went very well and the church was packed full of children and mothers. Over 130 Christmas packets were given out and one drunk man wandering by prayed to received the Lord as His Saviour. He was a Hungarian visiting the area and refused to leave until he received "something for his soul," as he put it. We pray that the Lord will work in this man's life as he returns home. Thank you again for all your donations of money, toys and school supplies. Your donations made over 400 Christmas children's packets!! It truly was a blessed Christmas for many Rom children this year. Thank you! I pray you all have a wonderful Holiday Season with family and friends. Love, Kim
